Working within a tight construction budget, the project focuses its resources on the spaces that have the greatest impact on everyday life. A double-volume living area gives the relatively small house a greater sense of space, while the main living areas extend onto a generous covered terrace.

The house is positioned to make the surrounding agricultural landscape part of the architecture, with views drawn through the living spaces and out towards the horizon.

Rather than allowing budget to limit the project, HUYS uses simple moves — volume, orientation and connection to the outdoors — to make a modest house feel considerably more generous.
